Japanese tea house
Teahouses are traditionally built to perform tea ceremony. It is a ritual of the Japanese. The design of this room is a modern interpretation of the traditional tea house. Since the amount of garden landscape is limited in Japan, this room is designed to be placed indoor. The structure is simply constructed with a wood frame and covered with rice paper. The use of rice paper allows natural light into the room. At night time, light can also glow from the inside of the room, similar to a large lantern. A small opening is located on one side of the room which act as the entrance for the room. Keeping with the tradition of Japanese tea houses, the opening to designed at a very low height for guests to kneel down before entering. The structure is size according to the dimensions of tatami mats. There are eight tatami mats in total.
